We have increased the number of operations in our re-engineered process in order to reduce the number of delays. We have also increased the amount of ICT used in the whole process to make everything easy.
Nice diagram. You mention that the staff sends email to manager who forwards to the warehouse - Instead of using emails to place orders, couldn’t there be a form on the system which the staff fill in and submit? The system could then determine if a manager approval is required based on the order price, and take the relevant action accordingly i.e. send automated approval email. When re-designing, think if the task/step (such as the order email) adds value if carried out by a person or if it is necessary, else it should be automated if it can be.
Thanks Ghosia, one of us mentioned this actually. We must have forgotten all about it while coming up with the final diagram. You weren't around last week. Hope to see you tomorrow.
